Writing

The Weight of Snow

In autumn 2019, I finally went to Tibet. It had been at the top of my travel list for a very long time. Within days, I knew I wanted to tell the story of someone whose experience had shaken me to the core. Perhaps a short story,…

The idea stayed with me for years.

Until, eventually, I started writing.

The result is called The Weight of Snow.

Synopsis

While crossing a remote Himalayan glacier, two siblings, Sangyal and Yeshi, become witnesses to a disturbing act of violence. Their guide, Tenzin, appears to make a decision that leaves them both shaken, forcing them to carry the heavy burdens of survival, guilt and complicity.

With families and loved ones left behind, the lives of those touched by the events unfold across different parts of the world. But wherever they go – be it Nepal, China or India – the weight of what happened follows them. Through different perspectives and encounters, the boundaries between enemy and ally, victim and perpetrator, begin to blur, revealing the human cost of a conflict that reaches far beyond politics.

For Lobsang, the journey becomes an intensely personal one. Caught between the life he has built and the place he has left behind, he must decide whether to return home – and confront what home, belonging and responsibility now mean to him.

The Weight of Snow explores survival, compassion, cultural inheritance and the enduring consequences of the choices we make.

“I’m now looking for publication opportunities and collaborators interested in adapting it for audio or the stage. If this speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you.”
