Jinx & Tracy
5-minute proof-of-concept trailer for a proposed feature film
In 2022, my friend and producer Tien Mohan contacted me from Birmingham, Alabama, about a novel by Sabrah Agee that he wanted to adapt into a feature film. Would I be interested in playing Jinx, the female lead?
We decided to shoot a proof-of-concept trailer, with the hope of generating interest and eventually securing funding for the feature. After an initial, unsuccessful round of crowdfunding, we eventually managed to secure a micro-budget, and in April 2023 I headed to Nashville, Tennessee, for the shoot.
What you see here is what we filmed over a single weekend — just two days in Murfreesboro, on a shoestring budget, and with me being terribly ill throughout.
Sadly, Tien passed away before we even started shooting. But this little film — for better or worse — will always be dedicated to him.
For now, sadly, the project has stalled. But perhaps one day, Jinx will get her chance.
But for Us
Rehearsed reading at the Bush Theatre, London
But For Us is a full-length play developed by the London-based, award-winning Whoop ‘n’ Wail Theatre Company. The story follows Dora, a 75-year-old Windrush pioneer and activist fighting to protect the NHS.
It was an honour to be part of this intense RAD week, culminating in performances at London’s Bush Theatre.
